LCP timeout Error with 3Com ADSL routers

First you need to telnet into the 3com router and login:-

login: admin
Password:

3Com-DSL>

Once you have the prompt, type show ppp and you will see that the Echo retry is set to 8

3Com-DSL>show ppp
PPP SETTINGS
Inbound Authentication PAP or CHAP: EITHER
Echo Retry Limit: 8

3Com-DSL>

You can change this to 0 which disables the Echo retry.


To do this type the following:

3Com-DSL>set ppp echo 0
3Com-DSL>

If you type show ppp you will now see that it has changed to 0

3Com-DSL>show ppp
PPP SETTINGS

Inbound Authentication PAP or CHAP: EITHER
Echo Retry Limit: 0

3Com-DSL>

Now close the telnet and check the connection status
